Assignment Dashboard
The Dashboard tab provides a summary view of an individual assignment, including time tracking, billing, task progress, and contextual information. It helps users understand the current state of the assignment at a glance.
Top Section – Assignment Status
Controls
Add time: Log billable or non-billable hours.
New expense: Record any costs associated with the assignment.
Invoice (TBC): Placeholder for future invoicing functionality.
Billing Summary
Total: Shows the total estimated billing amount (e.g., $1,400.00).
Billable hours: Time eligible for billing, with total value and hours (e.g., $1,400 for 7 hrs).
Avg. billable rate: The average hourly rate applied (e.g., $200.00).
Billable percentage: Shows the portion of total hours that are billable.
Non-billable: Time spent that isn’t chargeable (e.g., 1 hr valued at $175).
Totals Summary
Hours: Total hours logged for the assignment (e.g., 8).
Tasks: Number of related tasks (e.g., 1/1 completed).
Expenses: Sum of all recorded expenses (e.g., $0.00).
Right Panel – Task Summary
Visual progress indicators show the status of all tasks associated with this assignment:
Open Tasks
Tasks not yet completed (e.g., 0/1).
Closed Tasks
Completed tasks (e.g., 1/1 – 100%).
Overdue Tasks
Past their due date (e.g., 0/1 – 0%).
Upcoming Tasks
Scheduled in the future (e.g., 0/1 – 0%).
Tasks with no date
No deadline set (e.g., 0/1 – 0%).
Color-coded progress rings indicate performance:
Green = Complete
Grey = Not started or neutral
Details Section
Provides assignment metadata for context and tracking:
Assignment context
Description or notes (optional, empty here).
Owner
Assigned user (currently not assigned).
Client Reference Number
External ID or customer-facing reference.
Category
Classification (e.g., HR, Legal – blank here).
Status
Current state (e.g., Open).
Open date
Start date (e.g., 8 Mar 2025).
Due date
Deadline, if set (none in this example).
Contact Section
Displays any associated contact information (currently empty).
Best Practices
Regularly update time and expenses to keep billing accurate.
Monitor the task summary to stay on top of workload progress.
Use the context field to communicate the assignment’s background.
Assign an owner for accountability and task follow-up.
